Wan Azizah unveils Selangor list amid last-minute wrangling

GE14 | PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail tonight unveiled the party's candidate list for Selangor amid last-minute internal wrangling over who should contest.
However, before unveiling the candidates, Wan Azizah impressed upon the more than 5,000-strong crowd at Kuala Selangor stadium to close ranks.
"There may be some who feel slighted, there may be some who are dropped, but we want victory to take precedence over our feelings," she told the Pakatan Harapan rally.
The announcement came hours after PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, who is also Selangor PKR chief, met with party de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim at the Cheras rehabilitation hospital today.
The final list was to have been vetted by Anwar.
Earlier today, Azmin told Oriental Daily that the rally tonight was only a normal campaign activity but the list could be announced if discussions can be concluded by tonight.
He also said there was room for discussion about incumbent Batu MP Tian Chua and incumbent Rawang assemblyperson Gan Pei Nei, who today held a teary press conference complaining about a poison pen letter in a bid to get her dropped as a candidate.
Yesterday, Tian Chua reiterated his commitment to PKR amid quit rumours but advised Anwar and Wan Azizah not to give in to factional interest in deciding on the candidates'list.
Wan Azizah did not make any announcement for Batu but unveiled Chua Wei Kiat as Gan's replacement in Rawang.
Interestingly, the candidate for the parliamentary seat of Pandan, which is in Selangor, was not announced.
Wan Azizah, when asked about this later, said she was thinking about PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli, who had decided not to contest due to multiple court cases that could see him disqualified as an MP if he is found guilty.
"I was thinking of Rafizi. It's not easy as the law has not been kind to him," she said.
Azmin appeared serious throughout the ceramah tonight and did not appear to speak to Wan Azizah.
However, he smiled widely when Wan Azizah announced the candidates and Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin who was seated beside him raised Azmin's hand.
He also shook hands with some of the announced candidates.
Wan Azizah also appeared to tease Azmin, repeatedly asking "who is it" when she was about to announce the Bukit Antarabangsa candidate, which is Azmin's incumbent seat, before announcing him as the candidate.
