Stick to cost of living and getting rid of GST, PH candidates told

Show people how PH is the better choice to end corruption and abuse of power, reminds Muhyiddin.
PH chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad, PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin, DAP sec-gen Lim Guan Eng and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu briefing candidates.
PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan candidates must have the mindset that the coalition is a government in waiting as they approach the final stretch ahead of the upcoming polls.
At a briefing for the candidates — representing PKR, DAP, Amanah and PPBM — here today, PH leaders told them to continue to speak up on the coalition’s commitment to end the scourge of corruption and abuse of power.
“You must all stand tall and be different from Barisan Nasional candidates during ceramah.
“Show the people how PH is the better choice to deliver on the promise of ending the corruption and abuse of power of the BN government.
“We are here to serve them now more than before,” PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin said.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, meanwhile, asked the candidates to keep away from personal attacks during the campaigning period.
“They would be attacking Dr Mahathir Mohamad and others. But we focus on policies and the PH manifesto.
“Remember, we are a government in waiting,” he told the candidates, further advising them to focus on the key issues of the rising cost of living and the PH promise to abolish the goods and services tax (GST).
Lim also asked candidates to look after the members and volunteers who would be helping them.
“These candidates have to depend on the strength of their machinery and all the volunteers and supporters who are working on polling day to ensure their victory.”
Meanwhile, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu said there are a lot of capable candidates in PH but the seats are limited.
“Those who are selected have a responsibility to face the general election and win.”
He added that with voter trends still being uncertain, candidates must start getting close to voters and win their hearts.
Mahathir then told all PH candidates that when they win, they are not just representing their constituency, be it at the federal or state levels, but are actually serving 30 million Malaysians.
“Therefore, we need to keep aside our disappointments and self interest. We need to put the country first.
“We need to bring back the country’s title of the Asian Tiger,” he told PH candidates.
He then urged all parties to set aside their differences and focus on winning the GE14.
After the speech, the candidates took an oath to serve the people and the country. -FMT
