'Justice Alliance' won't challenge Kerk Jr

GE14 | A group of four former DAP lawmakers have rescinded their plan to field an independent candidate for the Ayer Keroh state seat, and have endorsed DAP candidate Kerk Chee Yee instead.
Sim Tong Him, spokesperson of the group known as the 'Justice Alliance', said some of their supporters urged the group not to hurt Kerk's chances.
"He is the son of our comrade. He is the scion of a loyal and good man. To our supporters who initially wanted to vote for us, please vote for Chee Yee," Sim said when contacted.
Chee Yee, 25, is the son of Kerk Kim Hock, the former DAP secretary-general and Malacca DAP stalwart. Kim Hock passed away last year due to an illness.
The Justice Alliance comprises incumbents Kota Melaka MP Sim Tong Him, Duyong state assemblyperson Goh Leong San, Bachang state assemblyperson Lim Jak Wong and Kesidang state assemblyperson Chin Choong Seong.
All four resigned from DAP in February last year, following a protracted feud with DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng over control of Malacca DAP.
Last week, they vowed to stand in Kota Melaka, Kesidang, Kota LaksamanaAyer Keroh and Bandar Hilir as independents in the 14th general election to offer Malaccans an alternative to both DAP and BN.
The four seats were all won by DAP in 2008 and 2013 with large margins. Sim said this was intentional to avoid spoiling the opposition's chances in marginal seats. - Mkini
