Dr M warns Harapan candidates might be bought over on nomination day

GE14 | Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad has warned that their candidates might be bought by BN on nomination day itself, among other methods to derail the opposition coalition.
“On nomination day, there is a big possibility that (BN chairperson) Najib Abdul Razak might buy our candidate, or stop them from reaching the nomination centre and many other things, including not recognising our polling and counting agents (Paca) and our seconders.
“There are many things that Najib could do, which are against the law because he does not respect the law at all,” Mahathir said.
He was the last speaker at the Pakatan Harapan ceramah at the Kuala Selangor stadium tonight.
Mahathir advised Harapan to remain wary as Najib, who is the caretaker prime minister, still has the capabilities to obstruct the opposition coalition.
“That is why it is very important that our party composition is efficient and we can handle whatever problems well,” he said.
His speech was interrupted by the late arrival of Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, whose flight had just landed in Selangor.
Mohamad Sabu, who is better known as Mat Sabu, took a seat on the ground amongst the crowd, while Mahathir quipped about the evolution in their relationship.
“That is our Abang Mat who has never skipped any big (Harapan) events.
“He was my sworn enemy back then. I threw him into jail. But now he sits beside me.
“He said that was in the past, it’s okay. So he has a big heart, and he believes in our fight,” Mahathir said.
Mat Sabu had been detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) during Mahathir’s premiership.
Since Mahathir joined the opposition coalition, the two of them appeared to have set aside any old animosity, with Mat Sabu even cooking for the 92-year-old who visited his house. -Mkini
