A LESSON IN GRACE FOR SENG GIAW & BOO: DROPPED INCUMBENT PENANG MPS STAND BY DAP’S DECISION

GEORGE TOWN – Two Penang DAP incumbent MPs, who were dropped from the 14th General Election (GE14), have vowed to help the new candidates to win handsomely at the polls.
Ng Wei Aik and Jeff Ooi, the respective Tanjong and Jelutong incumbents, today said they do not hold any grudge against the party’s leadership for its decision to drop them.
In a joint media conference after being dropped from the party’s list of candidates released on Saturday, Ng and Ooi said they still wanted to help DAP in its quest for change and reform.
Ng was a Komtar assemblyman in 2008 before elected to become Tanjong MP in 2013 while Ooi was Jelutong MP for two-term.
“I will not question or ask the party on why I am dropped,” Ng, the former political-secretary to Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said.
He said he could further his study. “I may consider to take up law study,” said Ng, who was a journalist from 2001 to 2005
State DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow will stand in Tanjong in place of Ng.
Chow will also contest the Padang Kota state seat.
Ooi told reporters that he abides by leadership’s decision. The two-term Jelutong MP, who is into photography, said he would now have time to capture and document the dying traits in the constituency.
He also expressed his gratitude to the temples, clan associations and voters in Jelutong for assisting him all this while during his tenure as MP.
“I am indebted to them,” Ooi said, adding that he would assist the constituents and continue to stay there.
