Be wary of Dr M's return, MIC Youth chief warns Indians

Indian Malaysians must be wary of Dr Mahathir Mohamad's possible return as the prime minister because the community was hardly rewarded with high-ranking posts and recognition during his tenure, MIC Youth Chief C Sivaraajh has said.
In a statement today, he claimed that years of effort by the administration of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to provide more opportunities to Indians could be easily undone if they chose the "wrong leader."
Sivaraajh cited the recent promotions of several Indian civil servants as examples of Najib recognising the community.
These include the appointments of A Thaiveegan as the Penang police chief, Subromaniam Tholasy (photo) as the Customs Department director-general, Narinder Singh as the Commissioner of Prisons, as well as Amar Singh as the first Sikh director of Bukit Aman's Commercial Crime Investigation Department.

The appointments, Sivaraajh said, were proof that Najib's administration was committed to rewarding loyal and capable Malaysians based on merit, regardless of race or religion.
"Indian Malaysians had been serving the government and the country for decades, but were hardly rewarded with high ranks and recognition under Mahathir's tenure.
"MIC Youth hopes that the civil service reform will continue under Najib's leadership, so that we can see a bigger diversity among the top civil servants," he said, further urging more Indians to join the civil service.
"Under this government, they can be assured that there is no glass ceiling. and there is a pathway for them to achieve the highest ranks in their respective agencies.
“The Malaysian Indian Blueprint (MIB) is proof that the future can only be brighter for this community," Sivaraajh added.- Mkini
