Zulpuri: Pahang MB should have chosen words over fists

Mentakab assemblyperson Tengku Zulpuri Shah Raja Puji has said that Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob should have expressed his disagreement in the form of words rather than threatening to punch him in the Pahang legislative assembly yesterday.
Nevertheless, Tengku Zulpuri said he will not be reporting Adnan to the Rights and Privileges Committee as he thought the incident was “petty” and was not too shaken by it.
“For now I will not take any action because to me it was a petty thing. I did not feel afraid (during the incident), I was relaxed about it.
“But I feel we should berhujah (argue our points) in a professional manner. If there are any disagreements with me, he (Adnan) can say it during his wrap-up speech next Tuesday, he did not have to quarrel and tunjuk-tunjuk (show off).
“We need to show the rakyat that we are bringing forward their problems, not our own,” he said when contacted about the incident today.

In Tengku Zulpuri’s retelling of events, Adnan (photo) had questioned if he was a Muslim and threatened to punch him after he challenged Adnan’s statement that the Penang floods earlier this month had been an act of God in retaliation to beer festivals that were allowed to happen in the state.
“He became very angry when I said that there were no beer festivals happening in Mentakab when floods happened there in 2013.
“I wanted to teach him that you can’t simply say floods happened in an Opposition-run area because of beer festivals.
“Then he asked me 'kalau beranikita bertumbuk di luar' ('if you dare, let’s punch each other outside'),” he said.
The DAP lawmaker also verified that after state speaker Ishak Muhammad adjourned the assembly, Adnan had continued to challenge him to a fight.- Mkini
