The Road Transport Department (RTD) denied allegations that it had collected RM100 from participants of the MyLesen Goods Driving Licence (GDL) programme for registration purposes, as recently claimed in social media application WhatsApp that has gone viral.
RTD in a statement today said the programme was created to enable licensing for drivers of goods vehicles and to fill vacancies with full sponsorship from the Human Resources Development Fund (PSMB), as according to terms and requirements set.
According to RTD, the programme was a collaborative effort between the Transport Ministry, Human Resource Ministry, driving institutes, Asian Institute of Logistic and the Association of Malaysian Hauliers through the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) approach.
"RTD has never carried out negotiations with any party to charge a fee of RM100 to participants of the GDL programme," the statement said.
As such, RTD advised the public to remain vigilant against messages spread on the social media and Whatsapp application which do not come from a legit source.
RTD added that if the public were in doubt, they should refer directly to RTD instead of making it viral and spreading misunderstanding.
