Religious people enjoy singing too, Perlis mufti tells Zaid

Perlis mufti Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin has responded to former minister Zaid Ibrahim who had previously criticised those who were against the Better Beer Festival 2017 in Kuala Lumpur.
Asri said that alcohol is considered bad by all rational people as it has become a problem to society.
"If some refuse or disagree with a beer festival, it does not mean he refuses or denies entertainment.
"There are many among the religious who also participate in entertainment and sing in proper ways," he said in a Facebook post today.
Without naming anyone yesterday, Zaid (photo), who is a DAP member, had said that those who are against the beer festival prefer polygamy to entertainment and festival.

However, Asri questioned what halal polygamy has to do with a beer festival.
"Does a beer festival not lead towards free sex with women, which will certainly dishonour all religions?
"On the other hand, a responsible polygamy has rules and responsibilities between a husband and wives," he said.

The mufti also reminded Muslims to be ethical while expressing their views about issues like this.
"If non-Muslims want to drink alcohol, that is their right, but such a festival would have negative effects on the society at large," he said.
Yesterday, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall denied the application by organisers to hold the Better Beer Festival 2017.
The festival was meant to be held on Oct 6 and 7 in Kuala Lumpur.- Mkini
