PAS: We let PKR lead Selangor in GE13, but things change

After the last general election, PAS had agreed to PKR leading the state government, but this time round it may not be the case, said PAS Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.
This was in response to PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's recent speech in which he revealed PAS' aspiration of leading governments in Selangor, Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Perak after the next general election.
"We see the five states, including Selangor, as our target.
"What we have now, where we agree for PKR to lead (in Selangor), is a product of the 13th general election.
"But things have changed and they are not the same as the 13th general election," he was quoted as saying in a Sinar Harian report today.
Nik Abduh said the target was decided by the PAS central committee and was endorsed at every level.
Following the 13th general election, PKR held 14 seats in the Selangor state legislative assembly while allies DAP and PAS had 15 each.
Not a PAS-Umno alliance
Although PKR had the least number of seats, they had the support of PAS and DAP to lead the state government.
Currently, DAP has the largest number of seats in the state assembly at 14, while PKR and PAS have 13 each.
Nik Abduh also defended Abdul Hadi's claim that the other eight states be left to Umno, which the latter subsequently denied.

"What Tok Guru (Abdul Hadi) meant were that states that those states are already governed by Umno, so it is maintaining a status quo.
"It does not mean an alliance (between PAS and Umno). If Pakatan Harapan want those states, they need to work for them," he was quoted as saying.
PAS has refused to cooperate with Harapan and had threatened to sever ties with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) which recently joined the coalition.- Mkini
