Abang Johari tells SUPP to woo Sarawak Chinese ahead of GE14

The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) ought to be seen as a united and strong party representing the Chinese community in Sarawak, said Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg.
As the Sarawak BN chairperson, he hoped the BN component party could unite the Chinese community in the state and win all the seats it will contest in 14th general election.
He said failing to do so would mean SUPP failed in uniting the Chinese community.
“Once the community is united, people will respect and listen to the community’s voice,” said Abang Johari at a Chinese New Year gathering organised by the Federation of Kuching Division Chinese Community Association in Kuching last night.
Overall, Abang Johari said Sarawakians are united as observed during last year's state election when the Sarawak BN under the chairmanship of the late chief minister Adenan Satem achieved a landslide victory, wining 72 out of the 82 seats.
The chief minister hoped that SUPP would be able to unite the Chinese 100 per cent and translate that to 100 percent victory in the GE14.

He added that all communities in Sarawak ought to be seen as united and strong to be able to talk about the devolution of power from the federal government.
Meanwhile Federation of Kuching Division Chinese Community Association chairperson Sim Swee Yong said Sarawakians would get a fairer deal when Sarawakians are united.
At the function Abang Johari announced a grant of RM240,000 to the Federation of Kuching Division Chinese Community Association.
