Umno members claim division leader threatened them

Two Gombak Umno executive committee members claim to have received threats from a divisional party leader last month.

Recalling the incident during a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today, Mohd Farouk Mohamad Ramli said he was on duty during the recent Gombak Puteri Umno AGM when he was threatened.

Mohd Farouk said he was approached by the leader who said: "Eh, come then, those that have died have died, here is another who wants to die, I have held back for three years".

"He screamed that and then tried to attack me," alleged the Umno leader.

Meanwhile, Azmi Iswan said prior to that, he too was confronted by the same leader but could not remember the entire exchange.

"He said, 'Mi (Azmi) what is it that you are not happy with?' Later he brought me to another place," he added.

Azmi believes that the leader might have been displeased with a photo that he uploaded on social messaging application WhatsApp before the incident.

He said this was in relation to a meeting at an Umno division meeting in Selangor when two leaders from Gombak who were present despite the mandate to represent the division only being given to one person.

It is understood that both have lodged separate police reports at the Selayang police district headquarters on Aug 15.

However, the pair claimed that until now there has been no action from the authorities.

Worried about their safety, the two Umno members decided to talk to the media about the matter.

Azmi said he is considering lodging a complaint with the party's disciplinary board.

"We will discuss it beforehand and see what develops after it has been exposed in the media," he added.

Also present at the press conference was another Gombak Umno exco Osmad Said who purportedly witnessed the incidents.
