Like it or not, Umno tactics required to defeat Umno

YOURSAY | 'Bersatu, like Umno, is a race-based party to draw Umno members.'
Anonymous 1890491455255851: While I was initially upset by the idea of another Malay party, I have come around to see that there is a high percentage of Malays who have been brainwashed into thinking that non-Malays are going to take everything from them, if given the chance.
This is far from the truth, but decades of indoctrination by Umno have created that perception. So I can only hope that Bersatu and Amanah will work to change the mindset of those who have bought the Umno doctrine, because it's time that Malaysians all of all races get to be treated as Malaysians.
Meow: Not all Malays or bumiputera are willing to accept that all Malaysians should have equal rights. It's the result of race-based parties since independence.
So, it's all right to have the Bersatu party for the bumiputera, which will attract the hardcore from Umno, for now.
YHJ: Yes, Bersatu must use Umno tactics to win over the die-hard Umno voters. Minus corrupt leaders, the new party should do well. I wish you success.
Anonymous #20513663: Slavery in the US was also race-based but not racist? Bersatu is even worse than segregation under the fiction of 'separate but equal'. Bersatu is 'separate and clearly unequal'.
I agree that race-based parties will become racist sooner or later. Sixty years of BN has made this very clear, but I guess some people are just tired of resisting and are looking for shortcuts, which will ultimately lead us on a long detour.
Rku020: While I see a race-based party to counter Umno, by definition, a race-based party will have no choice but become a racist party sooner than later.
It will all be about votes, income, pensions, the gravy train, etc. So please give the rakyat some credit. Stop the BS (bulls**t) and speak the truth.
Exranger: Amanah communications chief Khalid Samad, you must remember that that's how Umno began, but eventually became as what it is now because it will only struggle for a particular race, and will oppose equality for other races.
If Bersatu succeeds in bringing down Umno, 99 percent of Umno will join Bersatu and we will have to start all over again to bring down another 'Umno'.
Ksn: Khalid, please do not speak for the new party of opportunists and racial bigots, not that Umno Baru is any better.
Keep away from the new party of proven racists, for the good of Amanah. The less said about them, the better.
Tkosong: Since when Amanah became a Bersatu spokesperson? Does Amanah have a non-Malay leader? Does this mean Amanah is also a race-based party? Birds of a feather, flock together.
Armageddon: I suppose we need another race-based party to finish off another race-based party.
Anonymous_1375701728: Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz, here’s one simple question. If Dataran Merdeka belongs to DBKL (Kuala Lumpur City Hall), why are we paying assessments and road tax, etc?
A private property should be maintained by the private individual with his money, not public money. And by the way, you are welcome to protest in front of my house as the road belongs to the municipality.
Ckl0001: MO1 is the public enemy No. 1, and it is right to have a rally at Dataran Merdeka, a public place, to call to tangkap him.
As for protesting at houses, let's leave this pariah action to the uneducated who did that at the houses of then Bersih co-chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan, and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
Mamadias: DBKL is a local public agency funded by taxpayers. It doesn't own Dataran Merdeka. It manages it on behalf of the public. So if the rakyat wants to use it, they can, and DBKL should manage the protest.
Thana55: Dataran Merdeka is the people's square which DBKL manages. It is not the same as protesting in front of your house. It is for the police and DBKL to see that the event is peaceful.
Amah: Indeed, how come the minister does not know the difference between private property and public property?
Fairman: Nazri, I can protest in front of your house peacefully, provided I don't destroy your property or abuse you. I can just stand outside your house, and hold a placard or banner.
Existential Turd: Correction: DBKL does not own Dataran Merdeka. The taxpayers do. DBKL is just hired to run the city. We did not gain independence so that Dataran Merdeka can be the private enclave of some city council.

Perak Boleh: Nazri, you are always welcome to protest in front of my house if I committed a financial scandal like 1MDB or purchased marked-up properties using the rakyat's monies. - Mkini
