There's some really, really bad news for KTM commuters

© Coconuts Media
If you rely on the KTM to go to work or generally, to move around, you're about to have a very bad time.
That is because Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad’s (KTMB) will be releasing a new timetable this Friday which will see longer queues for trains, with wait times expected to double - or more! - during off-peak hours.
Oh, and this is not a temporary thing; the delays will last until 2020!
According to Malay Mail Online, this is to facilitate upgrading works along the existing Klang Valley tracks aimed at achieving KTMB's grand plan of cutting the waiting time by half from the current 15 minutes to 7.5 minutes by 2019.
In the meantime, said KTMB general manager of operations S. Mahendran, commuters will have to bear with the delays as the 7.5 minutes wait time can only be achieved when the entire project is completed in 2019.
Beginning Friday, train intervals at the Seremban-Batu Caves route increased both ways from 15 minutes to 45 minutes during weekends and public holidays, as well as off-peak hours on weekdays.
Commuters using the Sungai Buloh-Pelabuhan Klang route will now see 45-minute intervals for both ways during off peak hours on weekdays (9am-4pm and 8pm-12.30am).
As for the Tanjung Malim-Pelabuhan Klang route, commuters can expect an interval of 30 minutes during the morning peak hours (5.30am to 9am), while the reverse direction during the same period will see an interval of 30 or 60 minutes.
There will be a 60-minute interval for the remaining hours both ways.
The Tanjung Malim-KL Sentral route will have one-hour intervals for both ways on weekends and public holidays, while the KL Sentral-Pelabuhan Klang route will have 45-minute intervals for both ways.
And yes, other train services such as the ETS and KTM Intercity will be affected as well.
