Someone jumped the gun in clearing Phang over SD?

YOURSAY | ‘As is invariably the case, the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.’
Dont Just Talk: Penang police chief Abdul Ghafar Rajab announced that the Attorney-General’s Chambers has decided the case against businesswoman Phang Li Koon regarding her SD (statutory declaration) be marked NFA (no further action).
His comments were reported in all major dailies and news portals. Suddenly AG’s Chambers turned around and said that it had yet to make any decision on the case. What a joke.
Pemerhati: This about-turn has revealed the normal modus operandi of Umno’s lackey agencies such as the police, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the AG’s Chambers, the judiciary and in fact almost the whole public service.
Their actions are controlled by the dictatorial Umno regime. What the Penang police chief announced earlier about ‘no further action’ was most probably correct, but someone must have forgotten to tell him that the decision is not supposed to be announced.
Umno’s normal strategy since Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s time has been to harass and keep the opposition tied down with all sorts of frivolous and false charges.
A good example was how the late social activist Irene Fernandez was charged for speaking the truth about the way illegal immigrants were mistreated by the police. Her trial was one of the longest and lasted for several years.
Now Umno does not want to clear Penang CM Lim Guan Eng because they want to retain the option of unfairly sending him to prison, like former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
Ferdtan: Obviously an instruction from the top made AG’s Chambers ‘changed’ its decision.
A top police officer like Abdul Ghafar would not be brave enough to declare anything other than the actual decision of the AG’s Chambers.
Poor Abdul Ghafar, he will be made a scapegoat to be ridiculed by the public. Expect him to issue in a day or two a statement that he was either misquoted by the press or he had made a personal mistake.
This is the sorry state of our public institutions. There is no hope for the country anymore.
Anonymous 109681439536914: Indeed, the top police officer could not have made the statement without direct information from the AG’s Chambers. The AG had a change of mind?
Anonymous$&@?: The AG is turning the AG’s Chambers into a circus - flip-flopping on cases involving the opposition but when it comes to cases involving Umno politicians, it is often ‘case tutup’ (closed case).
Right-minded rakyat are not so dumb as the AG thinks, but his actions reveal a lot about his integrity.
Anonymous_4056: AG Mohamed Apandi Ali, just let us know how long do you have to take to make a decision.
I know you have every right to take your time but surely you do not have to take so long to make a simple decision, do you? It reflects badly on you, Apandi.
Gaji Buta: It seems like someone jumped the gun and issued the statement clearing Phang before the Sarawak election.
Anonymous 759201436321741: In Bolehland, as is invariably the case, the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.
Basically: Comparing the various cases, I am led to believe the smaller the amount - for example, Teoh Beng Hock's case which involved a sum of around RM2,000 - warrants more thorough investigation than cases involving humongous sums of money.
Anonymous #40538199: Such contradiction between the police and AG’s Chambers would only lead people to speculate that there was hidden hand at work in this case.
Kit P: The bungalow case must be assessed on its legal merits. Even 1,000 police reports made against someone is not proof a crime has been committed.
Speaking Sense: I just heard the AG has just seen evidence the SD is linked to a mysterious RM2.6 billion donation that was supposed to have been returned but was lost along the way; and this explains why the SD case, which had been closed, has suddenly been reopened.
This is because they are upset about having lost the RM2.6 billion and suspect Lim might have hijacked it together with the help of the SD lady.
HaveAGreatDay: Phone call from we know who to we know who after Abdul Ghafar’s statement:
Hello?
Apa nanti?
Ai yoh? What lah you!
How can you let Phang off the hook so easily?
Macam ini LGE boleh cakap besar lah!
Go do the necessary.
