Police have opened an investigation paper on the case and will call Zaidi to record his statement.
BTP
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have confirmed that the Education Ministry’s Technology Education Division (BTP) Director Zaidi Yazid, who was reported missing since April 30, was in Miri, Sarawak, all the while on official business.
Kajang police chief ACP Othman Nanyan said Zaidi, 56, was reported to have left home around 6pm on Saturday (April 30) after informing his family that he was going to the office to attend a course.
“On Sunday, his daughter sent him a WhatsApp message, but his (Zaidi’s) mobile phone was not active even after his daughter lodged a missing persons report at the Bandar Baru Bangi police station yesterday,” he said when contacted.
At the same time, he said the police ran a check at Zaidi’s office and found out that he had attended a course in Miri from April 29 to May 1 and had taken leave from yesterday to Thursday.
Upon further checking with Miri Airport authorities, police confirmed that Zaidi had returned to the capital yesterday and arrived at the KL International Airport (KLIA) at 3.05pm.
“Police have opened an investigation paper on the case and will call Zaidi to record his statement to complete the investigation,” Othman added.
