Bungalow saga: MACC to quiz CM, wife tomorrow

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will question Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and his wife Betty Chew over their controversial bungalow tomorrow.
According to NST Online, the couple have been asked to present themselves at the Penang MACC office where their statements would be recorded.
MACC investigations division director Azam Baki said both the commission and Lim's lawyers had agreed on the meeting date last week.
"The time and place has been agreed upon. They will give their statement at 9.30am at the MACC Penang office located in Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, George Town," he added.
The bungalow became a hot issue when Lim was accused of purchasing it at below market value.
Umno lawmaker Shabudin Yahaya had claimed that the bungalow, on a 10,161 sq ft plot of land, was bought by Lim on Oct 25 last year for RM2.8 million, when the market value of the property should have been between RM6 million and RM6.5 million.

Lim, however, denied any elements of corruption and accused his rivals of concocting such allegations.
The bungalow's seller, businesswoman Phang Li Khoon, also denied any dealings with the state government in a statutory declaration (SD).
However, she also being investigated over claims of making a false SD.
The bungalow issue was also linked to the sale of the Taman Manggis state land, which Lim argued was done through an open tender process. -Mkini
