Yes PM, let’s have an open probe of Tabung Haji

Najib's mere appeal through social media is not enough, he must officially take them to task

The prime minister has lamented in his personal blog that Malaysian Muslims are being seriously misled by “irresponsible parties” (in all likelihood referring to opposition political camps).
He writes that the Muslims were so “influenced by the rumors until they withdrew their savings” from the pilgrimage fund Lembaga Tabung Haji.
If true, then this unethical political game by opposition politicians deserves condemnation. They have seriously committed a grave sin by denying Muslims their obligation to perform the Haj as stated by the PM.
The “spread of false news without verification” must not only be condemned but the culprits brought to book.
But then again, with our PM embroiled in so many financial debacles that still do not seem to offer satisfactory and believable answers, one also wonders whether the opposition would be so dumb as to have made blatantly false allegations about Tabung Haji.
The prime minister’s statement deserves immediate investigation, done transparently and with pious accountability.
The rakyat and obviously all Muslims deserve to know the truth. Najib’s mere appeal to stop slander through social media is unbecoming of a responsible leader of Muslims. He should instead officially take them to task.
Now who is lying and who is telling the truth?
Let us not allow politicians to continue to use religion as their political currency. Muslims and non Muslims alike should demand an immediate, transparent and fully independent investigation to hold the Rasputin to account.
If Malaysians fail even in this aspect, then we might as well kiss goodbye to ethics and governance.
What have all the champions of religion including theocratic political party leaders got to say? Will they apply their selective memories and let the adage “Malaysians mudah lupa” prevail?
