KUALA LUMPUR - Some 150,000 civil servants in the country need to look to loan sharks to deal with the rising cost of living.
The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) president Datuk Azih Muda pointed out that some 12% of the country's civil force (about 150,000) had been borrowing large sums of money from illegal moneylenders since 2012.
He told Harian Metro that survey showed civil servants borrowing from loan sharks included local government officials, military personnel, hospital staff and low-income pubic servants earning under RM3,000 a month. - Mysinchew
