Ku Nan dismisses dissident Umno group as ‘shit-stirrers’

Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has dismissed the Gabungan Ketua Cawangan Malaysia (GKCM) as a group of "shit-stirrers".
He also said he doesn't think their plan to table a motion against Umno president Najib Abdul Razak will succeed.
"These people are shit-stirrers. They have to follow the (party’s) rules and regulations.
"I don't think it will get through, whatever they're trying to do," he said to reporters after flagging off the Kuala Lumpur-Terengganu Treasure Hunt 2016 in conjunction with Federal Territories Day.
Tengku Adnan, who is also federal territories minister, explained that this was because the group will need to go through a lengthy process before they can table their motion, including getting the support of two-thirds of the members in their branches.
GKCM, a group of disaffected Umno branch leaders, had yesterday revealed they plan to table a motion asking Najib to step down as party president and for the delayed party polls to be brought forward.
This was in response to a challenge issued by Tengku Adnan for Umno members to table a motion through party channels if they have lost confidence in Najib's leadership.
However, he advised those planning to do so to refer to the party constitution.
"Whatever they want to do, they (should) read the constitution first. As the secretary-general, I know what I'm doing is right," he said.
Najib is facing discontent within his own party after having been plagued by scandals and accusations of abuse of power that have seen calls for him to step down from both inside and outside the party.
Already, 13 branches from the Teluk Kemang Umno division in Negeri Sembilan have collectively called for his resignation as Umno president.
GKCM has stressed that they do not intend to punish Najib for the ills that have befallen the country but he should step down to avoid bringing defeat upon Umno in the next general election.
Several branch leaders have had disciplinary action taken against them as Najib and his backers moved to purge dissenting voices in Umno. -Mkini
