THE COALITION THAT IS ALWAYS SORRY

BN-Pakatan
Karamjit Gill, Malay Mail Online
We have two major political coalitions here in Malaysia. At one end is the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition that is plagued with allegations of corruption and on the other end is the Opposition Coalition who repetitively strikes allegations and then says sorry.
It is obvious that the Opposition coalition in Malaysia only functions to highlight wrongdoings of the government and stir controversy to anger the public for a revolt against the government. Their modus operandi is simple and straight forward.
With regards to their own deeds, they have done virtually nothing, which is worrying. What will happen if they form the government? Who are they going to be picking on to cry foul?
When the Buah Pala Indian Village was destroyed in Penang in 2009 and Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was labelled a cheat for failing to safeguard pledges made by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to the villagers, very conveniently he said he was not aware of Anwar’s promise and apologised. First destroy, then say sorry because nothing can be done.
Then came the fiasco for power struggle in Selangor. The Kajang move was initiated to oust Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and place Anwar’s wife as the Menteri Besar (MB). When Khalid proved a force tough to move, Pakatan’s own representatives made all kinds of allegations against him.
Rafizi Ramli even gave a chronology of events regarding Khalid’s alleged debts as the MB. Both Anwar and Guan Eng made unjust remarks against the Sultan of Selangor for not blessing Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s appointment as the MB.
When reality kicked in that they were not going to have their way, they immediately apologised to the palace for words uttered. As time went by, Khalid embarked on a legal suit of defamation against Datuk Saifuddin Nasution, PKR’s Secretory-General.
Not long ago, the magic wand of sorry came in again and out-of court settlement took place. Khalid today openly speaks about the defamation and Kajang Move that was embarked upon to remove him as MB.
A day day prior to the last General Election, Nurul Izzah Anwar publicly tarnished the image of Datuk Raja Nong Chik and his family members through baseless allegations. The statement she made definitely aided her victory against Nong Chik during the general elections.
Last year, Nong Chik dragged Nurul to court for defamation and now that she has realised there is no running away, she opted for the all-time favourite “I’m sorry for falsely making that statement and promise never to do it again.”
The damage has been done. Nong Chik lost the elections and got his good name smeared. Nurul Izzah once again shows how big a cheat and liars the Anwar family is. I agree that speaking ill about the opposite candidate have been done by BN too.
However, they have never been sued by the Opposition. Does that mean that the allegations BN made against then Pakatan reps are true? With Guan Eng suing left and right, I am sure if they were an opportunity to sue, he would not have left that leaf unturned.
I wonder if in years to come the Opposition coalition will once again fold hands and say sorry to Datuk Seri Najib Razak after ousting him if they are able to do so?
In an interesting turn of events, Harapan Baru’s Mat Sabu now intends to reconcile with the son of late Datuk Niz Abdul Aziz. I cannot understand this twister. Lim Guan Eng fought tooth and nail to sever ties with PAS. Then those who lost in the PAS elections spoke rubbish against the supposed spiritual leaders and formed their own coalition.
Now, they would like to work together with PAS again. After making a whole big round-a-bout, they want come back together as a team. What happens next? The hudud predicament starts again, allegations will be made that some opposition leaders are silently working with BN again, Guan Eng starts barking again and the split occurs again. Why do all the drama just for history to repeat itself? And these bunch of clowns want to govern the country.
The whole country is crying for Najib to leave. The Opposition is banging on this notion. What if he is successfully ousted later? Let me tell you what will happen. A new premier would be inducted, the past would be forgotten and focus shifts to the Opposition.
All their mess would be like an open book. The new PM will seek for time to set things straight and there goes GE 14 out of the window. Learn from history my Opposition friends. Dig deep into your memory and recall what happened during the very next GE after Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi took over from Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
We Malaysians had enough of poor politicians. Why should we remove bad crops and seed the same breed? We need proper leaders with integrity not a group that just says sorry.
Where are you, The Third Force? Why are you taking so long to unveil?
