YOURSAY ‘Abdul Rahman has intentionally or unintentionally let cat out of the bag.’

Tholu: BN strategic communications director Abdul Rahman Dahlan, you have essentially verified the suspicion on the existence of a draft charge sheet against PM Najib Razak drawn up by then attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail.

The new AG Mohamed Apandi Ali had denied it. The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had denied it. Inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar denied it and even said that there is no necessity to confirm with Abdul Gani on the matter since the new AG had denied it (such perverted logic).

But now you are saying that it actually existed. So all this while, these three treacherous enforcement institutions, entrusted to protect the interest of the public, have lied to them instead.

In your blind zeal and excitement to show your loyalty to Najib, you have actually exposed his alleged criminality. Who are you to say that the charge sheet may have been made without due process? Are you a court of law unto yourself?

Dont Just Talk: Congratulation Abdul Rahman, you have intentionally or unintentionally let the cat out of the bag.

Now we know the real reasons why Najib had to reshuffle his cabinet, first by replacing the DPM Muhyiddin Yassin and AG Gani Patail, then promote four Public Accounts Committee (PAC) BN members to deputy ministers, all these to stall the investigation against him for the US$700 million wired into his personal bank accounts.

Telestai!: Yes, despite the denials, we now have confirmation from Abdul Rahman that the draft charge sheets are indeed real. However, we do not buy his argument that "there was a plot" to criminalise the PM.

Firstly, the AG's office and MACC are both Umno friendly and they exist to do Umno's bidding.

Secondly, if the process to charge the PM was initiated, the evidence must have been so damning that the officers in these agencies are moved by their conscience to do something about it. Surely the PM is not above the law.

Mushiro: Abdul Rahman said that there has been a deliberate attempt to criminalise the prime minister.

But the charge sheet was allegedly prepared by the AG who is the right person to do so. This same AG has been charging people for years and there was no real problem at all as the court is the final authority to dispose the charge.
So why did Abdul Rahman say that it was not correct when the charge sheet was prepared? Najib has illegally removed the AG and he should face the punishment for this.

The Observer: It is unbelievable to hear it direct from the PM's spokesperson.

That makes the subsequent actions to remove those responsible for the charge sheet look like not a pre-emptive strike, but an obstruction of justice. A person's innocence should be proven in court not by removing the investigators and prosecutors.

Jesse: If there was criminal activity, then the law must take its course. Indeed, the PM is not above the law. It is not a matter of 'criminalising' the PM. He is innocent until proven guilty but he can be charged like anyone.

To preempt and prevent authority from carry out its legal duty tantamount to taking the law into your hands, and Najib is committing a further offence - that of abuse of power.

To try to justify an illegitimate action merely demonstrates the depth of corruption in government. The minister is defending the indefensible. A leader is supposed to lead, not enrich himself and his cronies.

Turvy: The right thing for anyone in the PM's position to do if there is a charge against him brought through the ordinary process of law is to answer the charge, not 'take out' the AG or any officer of the realm.

What Abdul Rahman is preaching is dangerous in any state. He is saying the PM is entitled to undermine legal processes.

Behsaikong: So it is confirmed. The person to be charged took action against those who were going to charge him. Who are we to question the BN strategic communications director? This is not from the opposition or even those in Umno who disagreed with him.

So if you are somebody in government and if you are charged for something from a properly constituted commission of inquiry, instead of facing the charges and challenge it in a court of law or other channel prescribed by law, you can simply just "take these people out first"?

Really?

Onyourtoes: Abdul Rahman was effectively saying the PM has every right to stop the charge sheet from being formulated and served against him. He was saying the PM is beyond punishment regardless of what the investigation has revealed.

He was actually saying all the institutions of government, from AG, Bank Negara, MACC to the police have conspired and acted in concert to fix the sitting prime minister.

How could this man ever have the audacity to ask “what would you do” if given the same situation. Hello, if you have iota of dignity and character left, you resign or face the charge in court to prove your innocence.

Seriously, I think it is dangerous to have this kind of nincompoop acting as minister and director of communication. -Mkini
