MIRI: Police have crippled a drug trafficking syndicate with the arrest of a married couple selling bottled syabu with an image of K-pop star Psy on it for RM250 per bottle.
Miri police acting chief Supt Stanley Johnathan Ringgit said besides the K-pop star’s cartoon image, the bottles, resembling small perfume bottles, were also labelled “Myself Style” to conceal their drug trafficking activities.
“In a raid conducted on a house in Permyjaya on August 12, police seized 28 pink coloured boxes containing a bottle of syabu in liquid form (420ml),” he told a press conference here today.
Stanley said using small bottles and the K-pop star’s image were the latest method in drug trafficking activities here, with their target market being the local clubs.
He said the bottles were specially ordered from abroad before they were filled with the syabu liquid.
“The two suspects are a married couple, the husband is a local man aged 47 while his wife is a 26-year-old Chinese citizen. They were arrested and are being remanded until Thursday,” he said.
He noted that the couple also tested positive for drugs.
Police also seized five packets of Erimin pills weighing 361gm, seven Ecstasy pills, six ganja slabs weighing 70gm and 190 Erimin pills, a Hilux four-wheel drive worth RM50,000 and a weighing scale.
“The seized drugs were valued at RM24,595,” Stanley said.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1957, which carries the mandatory death sentence, if convicted.
