Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has yet to explain the RM42 million that was deposited in his private account, says Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
The urban wellbeing, housing and local government minister‎ said it was Najib's right whether or not to explain the status of the money he received from a former subsidiary of debt-ridden 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
“No. He has not informed,” he said at a press conference in Petaling Jaya today.
‎Sarawak Report reported that RM42 million had gone into Najib's accounts from SRC International Sdn Bhd, the Finance Ministry-owned company that had taken a RM4 billion loan from Retirement Fund Incorporated.
"The money taken from SRC International is a particularly shocking revelation, because this was money borrowed from the pension fund and never accounted for," the whistle-blower site said.
Rahman, however, said that the investigations into 1MDB were ongoing and Najib had given his assurance that the probe would continue.
"At this time, it is being investigated as there are some who have expressed worry.
"The prime minister has said to allow the investigators to do their jobs. What is important to remember is that he (Najib) wants the transaction to be probed.”
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and Sarawak Report last month revealed that RM50 million was transferred from SRC ‎to its subsidiary Gandingan Mentari and then to another subsidiary Ihsan Perdana.
Ihsan Perdana then transferred the RM42 million to Najib's account via a transaction between December 2014 and February this year.
It was reported today that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) was not aware of the setting up of the second special task force to investigate the operations of 1MDB and SRC.
‎MACC deputy commissioner (operations) ‎Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull said that he had not heard anything about the team known as the National Revenue Recovery Team (NRRT), reports Sinar Harian.
