'MY WORST FEARS CONFIRMED': Rafidah exhorts civil servants to probe Najib 'without fear or favour'
Former minister Rafidah Aziz has urged the civil service to uphold and maintain governance of the nation, with politicians appearing to be distracted.
"If in the political sphere we seem to be losing it, let the rest of the government, starting with our commendable civil servants, hold the fort.
"We have economic issues that must be addressed expeditiously," she said in a Facebook posting today.
Rafidah, often described as the 'Iron Lady' when she was in government due to her outspokenness and resolve, listed a laundry list of challenges that the country was facing.
"The currency situation, the private sector whose problems must be attended to - lest they flounder and be unable to function as drivers of the economic growth, addressing aspirations of the young, and the country's overall and specific competitiveness.
"I need not belabour on what other challenges we are facing and will continue to face.
"Please, get on with governing this country, do not allow anyone to perceive it as being rudderless," she lambasted.
Rafidah's piercing comments come amid several ongoing scandals plaguing the nation, including the RM2.6 billion deposited into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal bank accounts by what he claimed was a 'Mid-East donor'.
"It has been a while now since the fiasco started and my worst fears have been confirmed,” said Rafidah further.
"I had feared that the 1MDB issue will not remain as just that but that there will be many spin-offs, plots and sub-plots new - real and created - and arising issues that thrive in the dark realms of politics and human frailties and greed," she said.

While many had poked fun at the scandals, Rafidah said they should not be trivialised.
"These are very serious matters. They deserve rational and serious pondering and thoughts.
"Bottom line, get on and continue with every aspect of the investigation without fear and favour by the authorities empowered to do so," she said.
Rafidah also urged against judgment on the case through trial by media.
She also appeared to disagree with the planned Bersih 4 overnight rally on Aug 29 and 30, stressing that governance is the priority.
"The minority may make themselves visible and heard through social media and demonstrations.
"But the vast majority are simply wishing and praying that we do not lose our grip on governing our country the way it should be.
"May the Almighty save our country Malaysia," she prayed in conclusion. - M'kini
