Mukhriz regrets Langkawi delegate’s outburst

However, there's been no complaint from Langkawi Umno, says Kedah Menteri Besar.
Mukhriz-Mahathir,-Anina-Saaduddin
KUALA LUMPUR: Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir today spoke out against what he described as the “rough language” used by a Wanita Umno delegate at last weekend’s annual meeting of Langkawi Umno.
He spoke of Anina Saaduddin’s speech as an “outburst” which he regarded with “deep regret.”
“But I try to understand the content of the message intended,” he told reporters covering a ceremony formalising an agreement between two banks and a holding company owned by the Kedah state government.
Anina’s speech, which was highly critical of Prime Minister Najib Razak, was recorded on video. A clip uploaded to the Internet has gone viral. She used the Malay word for “urinate,” which is sometimes employed as slang for “lie” or “cheat”.
Mukhriz said he could, as Kedah Umno chief, issue a warning to Anina, but he added that he preferred to focus on the crux of her message.
He also said he had not yet received any complaint from Langkawi Umno.
However, he called on Umno members to maintain a measure of decorum in their speeches. He said some of the rhetoric used by Umno Youth delegates at the Langkawi meeting was also too strong for his liking.
“Whatever it is that they are trying to convey, it has to be done in a civil manner,” he said.
He dismissed rumours about the possibility of a revolt against Umno by its Kedah chapter, saying, “We are all party people.”
Mukhriz also spoke about the weakening of the ringgit, saying it was good for development projects that required foreign investment.
“Actually, a weakened ringgit is good for foreign investors,” he said.
