Kita dismisses report GHB taking over party

The social media report had claimed that a new party Amanah will be set up following the takeover.

PUTRAJAYA: Parti Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (Kita) has dismissed a social media report that the newly-formed Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB) will take over the party.

Kita secretary-general Azmi Othman said the report had claimed that a new party, Amanah would be set up on August 31 following the takeover.

“A check with the Registrar of Societies on August 19 showed that there was an attempt to falsify information on the party takeover for handing over to GHB with the aim of changing the name.

“This explanation is necessary to avoid any party from being cheated by irresponsible parties,” he told a news conference here.

Azmi said a report was lodged at the Kajang district police headquarters on August 20.

He also said the explanation was necessary to pacify the estimated 7,000 Kita members nationwide who had been disturbed by the news.
