JOHOR ULTIMATUM FOR FORK-TONGUED KHALED: Resign as MB & oppose Najib openly - division chief
KUALA LUMPUR - An Umno division chief has urged Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin to resign from his post and openly oppose party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s leadership.
Datuk Jamal Yunos, of Sungai Besar Umno, made this call after accusing Khaled of double-speak when asking all Umno members from Johor to maintain support for Najib while allowing his supporters to criticise the Prime Minister’s leadership.
He said this in the wake of the call by Khaled’s political secretary, Khairy Malek, for Najib to go on a leave of absence recently.
“In public, Khaled asks Johor Umno members to give their unrelenting support to the PM so that he has the strength to solve the 1MDB (1Malaysia Development Berhad) issue in six months.
“But discreetly, all of his senior party machinery members, such as (State liason secretary) Jais Sarday, (Menteri Besar Special Officers) Hahasrin and Suhaimi Jawahir, (Parit Sulong division chief) Zulkarnain and his own son, Akmal Saufi, launch attacks openly against Najib,”
“Even Special Affairs Department (Jasa) officer Dun Khaled had personally submitted a memorandum for the PM to take leave,” he said in a statement today.
Jamal said the actions of Khaled’s supporters to condemn Najib had created an air of discontentment towards Najib in Johor.
“I don’t think the retaliation towards the PM stems from the sympathy of the rakyat of Johor towards (former Deputy Prime Minister) Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
“This is because many of those in Johor know why Muhyiddin was sent to the federal government and ceased being the Menteri Besar at one point.
“The real reason for this retaliation is caused by Khaled’s attitude which made several Johor division chiefs to be afraid to attend meetings with the PM recently.” - Therakyatpost
