DR M CAMP: ZETI'S STANDING UP TO NAJIB, ROSMAH IS A VICTORY FOR THE PEOPLE

DR M CAMP: ZETI'S STANDING UP TO NAJIB, ROSMAH IS A VICTORY FOR THE PEOPLE
KUALA LUMPUR - The failure to remove Bank Negara Governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz is not just a moral victory for her but also those clamouring for a just, transparent, clean, honest and trustworthy government.
Former Information Minister Tan Sri Zainuddin Maidin said this after the head of the central bank earlier today declared she would remain in office until her term ends in April next year.
In a blog post this afternoon, Zainuddin remarked that this was another sign of a compromise with Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s admnistration who he claimed was under pressure by the people after the cancelling the transfer of two senior Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers to the Prime Minister’s Department.
This after many quarters argued that it was against the law to do so.
Zainuddin, who once served as Utusan Malaysia‘s group editor, noted that rumours Zeti would be investigated or sacked came about after Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry president Tan Sri K.K. Eswaran alleged that Zeti had helped his family obtain contracts unethically.
Eswaran had said this after several blogs posted numerous details involving Zeti’s husband Datuk Tawfiq Ayman and son, Alif Ayman.
Additionally, these blog posting according to Eswaran implicated Zeti as well as several BNM officials for allegedly being involved in a plot to topple Najib from his post.
Zeti has since denied the allegations and warned she would take legal action.
“This blog feels the sudden attack against Zeti by Eswaran was part of an effort to sully the integrity of Pak Ungku Aziz,” he wrote, alluding to renowned Malaysian economist Ungku Abdul Aziz Ungku Abdul Hamid.

Several days ago the Public Service Department decided to revoke the immediate transfer of MACC directors — Datuk Bahri Mohamad Zin (special operations) and Datuk Rohaizad Yaakob (strategic communications division) after the duo had provided satisfactory explanations over their statements, published in the media.
Bahri, who was among several officers questioned by police in regards to leaked information was reported to have pledged to find perpetrators who were ordering the arrests of MACC officers. MACC has since denied the allegation.
Rohaizad meanwhile, was believed to have been transferred after welcoming Opposition leaders who visited the MACC headquarters on Thursday. - Therakyatpost
