PKR is wondering when Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) will name the buyer for the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) land that the pilgrimage fund had purchased from 1MDB.

"It has been almost two months since the May 9 statement made by TH chairperson Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim that three offers from interested buyers were received for the 0.66-hectare piece of land," PKR Youth vice-chief Fahmi Fadzil said today.

At the time, Fahmi noted, Abdul Azeez had claimed that one potential buyer had offered RM188.5 million, the price 1MDB had paid, but 'with an additional profit of RM5 million'.

Abdul Azeez, he added, also claimed that a decision would be made within two weeks.

"Yet until today, the public has yet to be given a clearer picture as to what will happen to this piece of investment.

"Or has there been a U-turn in the board's decision?" Fahmi asked in a media statement.

If so, he said, the public must be given a clarification as to why Abdul Azeez was so bold as to announce that a decision on the buyer would be made by end-May.

"TH must come clean on this issue. The rakyat, especially those who have saved their hard-earned money with the pilgrimage fund to go for the haj, demands it.

"Don't you dare make a fool of the rakyat," Fahmi warned.

TH's land deal with the debt-laden 1MDB has sparked off a major controversy, forcing TH to announce that it would sell the land.
