For the second time in the three months, pro-Umno blog MyKMU.net has alleged that a group of Umno Youth leaders are trying to turn the wing against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Citing an alleged WhatsApp conversation between several Umno Youth leaders, the blog said the group was part of a movement to influence other members to stop supporting the party president.
Umno vice Youth chief Khairul Azwan Harun refused to confirm or deny the posting in the blog when contacted by The Malaysian Insider.
He said the prime minister was aware of Umno Youth's aims and responsibilities and that attracting the support of young voters was a huge task.
"You read it and comment yourself. I can't be bothered to read the blog," Khairul Azwan told The Malaysian Insider.
When asked whether his refusal to deny the posting meant he was confirming it, Khairul Azwan said it was up to the public to interpret his response however they wanted.
The blog said the group claimed it was not wrong for them to pretend to support Najib, as the prime minister himself was a pretender.
One of the leaders in the group allegedly said he had a large team of "cyber media" which could take on Najib's supporters, but he would not use them yet so as to conceal his strength from his rivals.
MyKMU.net's latest allegations comes just three months after it published a report claiming that several Umno Youth leaders were attempting to remove Najib or weaken his position.
But the leaders named in its report quickly denied the allegations and called the blog "unscrupulous".Former Johor Umno Youth vice-president Datuk Khairul Anwar Rahmat says young Malay leaders must speak out on issues affecting the people. – Facebook pic, July 27, 2015.Former Johor Umno Youth vice-president Datuk Khairul Anwar Rahmat says young Malay leaders must speak out on issues affecting the people. – Facebook pic, July 27, 2015.
Meanwhile, former Johor Umno Youth vice-president Datuk Khairul Anwar Rahmat told The Malaysian Insider members could not keep silent and remain cowed when it comes to championing the interests of the people.
He said the coming Umno Youth division conference should be a platform for the party wing to discuss issues of importance to the people.
"For the young leaders, this is the best chance to voice out public issues without fear or favour," he told The Malaysian Insider.
He said the recent Hari Raya celebrations were bound to have provided Umno Youth members the opportunity to hear the grouses of their relatives.
"The people are talking about the leadership, the economy, society and all aspects of life in this country," he said.
Khairul, who organised the controversial “Nothing to Hide” forum, said Umno Youth must stop discussing issues aimed at "sucking up" to leaders.
"We don't want the Malay delegates to only say nice, decent things and suck up.”
He said Umno Youth leaders must discuss important issues such as the rising cost of living and the plunging ringgit.
Khairul Anwar also urged them not to be afraid of losing their posts, and told them to speak out against their top leaders.
"I'm introducing a new tagline: 'Nothing to Lose'. Young Malay leaders should not worry about losing their positions because they speak out, as that is a sign of struggle."
Khairul Anwar relinquished all his positions in Umno after the failure of the “Nothing to Hide” forum, which was supposed to be a dialogue between Datuk Seri Najib Razak and several NGOs on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (IMDB) issue.
The forum ended in chaos  when the prime minister did not show up over "security reasons" while his biggest critic, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who took the stage, was stopped by police a few minutes into his speech.
Khairul Anwar was previously the Kluang division Youth chief, vice-chief of Johor Umno Youth, and chief secretary of Umno's legal bureau.
