“I am thankful that no one was injured in the incident involving the LRT at the Setiawangsa and University stations.
“A safety audit must be carried out so that the safety of passengers is always given priority,” he said in his Facebook and Twitter websites.
Both incidents caused service disruptions and resulted in both trains to be enveloped in smoke.
The first incident occurred at the Setiawangsa station at 8am, and the second at 12.18pm.
Meanwhile, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd had said in a statement that the company was aware of the problem and had taken steps to overcome it by fitting new brake seals for the 35 four-car trains.
The move was taken as a temporary measure while waiting for the train manufacturer, Bombardier, and Knorr Brake Company to come up with a long-term solution.
The manufacturer has acknowledged that there is a design issue. — Bernama
