MP PREDICTS 'IMMINENT END' FOR NAJIB: Your abusive strategies will be your downfall

MP PREDICTS 'IMMINENT END' FOR NAJIB: Your abusive strategies will be your downfall
Former US President John Kennedy said a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.
This is apt for Malaysia.
The UMNO-led government is so afraid of its people knowing the truth, that it is clamping down hard on lawmakers and media workers who were instrumental in exposing a financial scandal that threatens the financial stability of the country.
A travel ban has been imposed on The Edge Media Group's owner Tong Kooi Ong and Members of Parliament Tony Pua and Rafizi Ramli.
Tong's company publishes The Edge Financial Daily and The Edge Weekly, which have persistently covered the 1Malaysia Berhad controversy in the last few years.
Reporters from The Edge also pieced together evidence of financial transactions between 1MDB and PetroSaudi International to expose a scam to rob close to seven billion ringgit from Malaysia.
They were doing their job as a responsible media organization. And the lawmakers and my colleagues were doing their duty by exposing the truth in the interest of the nation.
But the persecution against them is certainly a precursor to go after everyone who have been harsh critics of the financial scandal, where a federal government-owned development fund ended up in the bank accounts of Prime Minister Najib Razak and his cronies, including flamboyant businessman Low Taek Jho.
Najib has refused to comment if the RM 2.6billion traced to his bank account was used during the last general election campaign, where his power was hanging by the thread.
But there is no travel ban on the Prime Minister.
On top of the travel ban, Malaysiakini has reported that Tong, Tony and Rafizi are being investigated for alleged activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.
Their police source also revealed Tony and Rafizi are investigated for alleged tampering and fabrication of documents related to 1MDB to oust Najib.
This is pure harassment and a travesty of justice.
Once again the police are working together with the government to shoot the messenger, instead of going after Najib and others implicated in the 1MDB controversy.
This is blatant abuse of police powers.
Najib has been in a dilemma from the time Sarawak Report started writing about the financial scandal.
And every detailed exposé has taken a further whack on the Prime Minister and his ability to hold on to power.
He is a liability to his own party and there have been calls for his resignation from within UMNO.
Clearly his days as premier are numbered and he is afraid. He is afraid of his people coming to know the whole truth.
Pushed to the corner, Najib is using his position, power and government institutions to keep a lid on those who are vocal about the financial controversy.
Little does he know that these strategies will spell an imminent end to his political career, soon.
