Lawyer: Papa Gomo did not upload new info on social media

Someone has uploaded content on Twitter and Facebook under and/or using Papa Gomo’s name while he was in detention.

KUALA LUMPUR: The lawyer for controversial blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, known as Papa Gomo, alleged that his client’s Facebook status and Tweets had been updated under his name while he was under remand. “Someone else was posting my clients Facebook status and tweets (via Twitter) under and/or using his name.”
“It doesn’t matter who owns the accounts,” claimed lawyer Ahmad Shuaib Ismail. “What was important was my client was under remand while the Facebook status and tweets were being updated under and/or using his name.”
The lawyer reiterated that it was impossible for Azri, who was remanded under police custody from July 14 to 17, to upload content on the social networking sites.
He implied that Papa Gomo had an alibi – being under detention — while the updating was done under and/or using his name on social media.
He also confirmed that he had as yet no news on whether his client would be charged with committing any offences.
“He’s on police bail and his case is being investigated under section 4 of the Sedition Act and section 505 of the Penal Code,” said Ahmad Shuaib. “These relate to his Twitter and Facebook accounts.”
Azri was released last Friday after his remand order expired. He was arrested last Tuesday after he was alleged to have posted a picture of a badly injured robbery victim on social media, and linked it to the Low Yat Plaza brawl.
