TIME TO FACE REALITY: ‘Nothing can or will be the same again’ - Tony on Pakatan

TIME TO FACE REALITY: ‘Nothing can or will be the same again’ - Tony on Pakatan
KUALA LUMPUR The Pakatan Rakyat-led Selangor state government will never be “business as usual” again, a DAP lawmaker opined.
Petaling Jaya Utara Member of Parliament Tony Pua said the coalition was still in the dark regarding the political realignment which would take place to allow a new coalition government to remain in power in Selangor.
Echoing what his colleague DAP Johor state chairman and Kluang MP Liew Chin Tong has alluded to, Pua — in a statement — said there was now a vacuum in the anti-establishment, moderate and progressive Malay political space after PAS “swerved hard to the far-right”.
“The ability for this gap to be filled, whether by the DAP and or PKR, or by the rise of new factions or parties, will determine the future of the new coalition for Selangor.
“The failure of this gap to be filled, which will allow a tenable coalition which subscribes firmly to the ‘Common Policy Platform’ endorsed by the rakyat in the last general election, may lead to a collapse of the Selangor state government and for elections to be called.”
He said as of today there was no final decision made by DAP Selangor.
In the coming days, the secular party would engage and discuss with DAP Central Executive Committee and abide by any decision which is made at the national level.
“Unlike leaders of several other political parties we know of, Malaysians can be assured that DAP leaders in Selangor will not be hypocrites and betray our principles to remain in power at all cost.”
Pua’s statement follows the decision made by PAS at its 61st Muktamar to pass a motion to cut ties with DAP. PAS has since clarified the decision was not set in stone as it the relationship status would have to be decided by the central committee and its Syura Council.
DAP's Tony Pua wonders how surreal the state exco meeting will be, with the PAS Excos ignoring the DAP Excos or pretending they did not exist.
He said as a result he was certain that “nothing can or will be the same again”.
“It was inconceivable for anyone to think or believe that Pakatan Rakyat can continue to exist in its current state given the above unequivocal motion.”
Pua predicted the state government will now face many challenges, wondering how a government would fucntion when PAS state executive councillors refuses to cooperate with those from the DAP when carrying out their respective duties
“Can one even imagine how surreal the state exco meeting will be, with the PAS Exco ignoring the DAP Excos or pretending that they don’t exist?” he said, adding the problem would also spread to all levels of the Selangor government. - Therakyatpost
