O you who believe, you shall be absolutely equitable, and observe Allah, when you serve as witnesses, even against yourselves, or your parents, or your relatives. Whether the accused is rich or poor, Allah takes care of both. Therefore, do not be biased by your personal wishes. If you deviate or disregard (this commandment), then Allah is fully Cognizant of everything you do.
Surah 4:135.
Well the bulan puasa is almost here. Perhaps this shall be my first post on the topic for the coming month.
"you shall be absolutely equitable, and observe Allah, when you serve as witnesses, even against yourselves, or your parents, or your relatives"
This simple statement differentiates great societies from those that are not.
Well it is 100% impossible to have absolutely honest people in any society.
But the larger numbers of such people there are in a society, the more of such 'systems' embedded in the psyche of a society, then that society has a better chance of being a great society compared to say another society that does not have this ingredient.
On the flip side, if a society has large numbers of people, has a government system, and upholds policies where 'they are not absolutely equitable, and do not observe Allah, when they serve as witnesses' then of course that is a failed or failing society. They are living on borrowed time.
And the road to failure can become slowly but surely very painful.
