Najib to visit quake-hit areas tomorrow

The PM posted on his blog today saying he will go to Sabah tomorrow to visit the quake hit areas

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Najib Razak said today he would visit the quake-hit areas of Sabah tomorrow. “Insya-Allah (God willing), I will go to Sabah tomorrow morning to see the quake-hit areas,” he said in his latest post on his blog, NajibRazak.com.

He said financial aid and counselling services would be provided to the those in need.

Najib said a financial allocation would be provided for the repair of damaged infrastructure and buildings.

An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter Scale rocked Ranau at 7.15 am last Friday, triggering tremors that were felt also in Tambunan, Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu and Kota Belud.

As of last night, 16 people were confirmed to have been killed in the quake while two are still missing.

On another matter, Najib said he had handed over a memorandum to the Saudi Arabian government on the annual quota of Malaysian pilgrims going to the holy land.

“Alhamdullilah (Praise be to God), my visit to Saudi Arabia went smoothly. I handed over a memorandum to the Saudi Arabian government on the quota of Malaysian pilgrims going to the holy land.

“Hopefully, the cordial relations between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia will facilitate the performance of the haj by Malaysian Muslims in the holy land in fulfillment of the fifth pillar of Islam,” he said.

Najib and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, had made a three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia beginning Saturday.
