MACC TAKING A LEAF FROM ROSMAH, ZAHID: Insists luxury watches were privately owned by officer’s husband

MACC TAKING A LEAF FROM ROSMAH, ZAHID: Insists luxury watches were privately owned by officer’s husband
KUALA LUMPUR - Several luxury watches reported missing after the house of an Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer was broken into, were privately owned by her husband who is a businessman.
Director of Strategic Communications Division, MACC, Rohaizad Yaakob, said MACC frowns upon accusations leveled through social media that its officers were alleged to have wealth beyond their means.
The Commission will lodge a police report on this issue and want the police to investigate the actions of certain parties who disclosed the report made by the victim via social media, he said.
“MACC wants to explain that the officer in question just joined MACC on June 1, 2015, assuming the position of a Grade 44 officer. Unfortunately, her home was broken into on the day she reported for duty.
“The officer made a police report on the incident yesterday and in her report she listed the items that had been stolen from her house, including the luxury watches.
“The police report she made went viral on social media since this morning, getting various responses from users,” Rohaizad said in a statement to Bernama.
“Initial investigations revealed that her husband is a businessman. In fact, since she just reported for duty yesterday, compulsory declaration of assets has also not been done yet.
MACC also views seriously the irresponsible action of the police report being revealed via social media, he said.
