This came about during cross-examination, when the witness, the son of Sarawak governor Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, was asked by lawyer Dr Rafie Mohd Shafie to state his worth to the court.
He then quoted from a valuation report prepared by a plaintiff witness from accounting firm Ferrier Hodgson MH Sdn Bhd.
Andrew Heng, partner in Ferrier Hodgson MH, testified in the case last year that Mahmud's total assets were valued at between RM976 million and RM1.395 billion.
Dr Rafie: You tell me now, what are you worth?
Mahmud: According to this document, I am worth RM1.185 billion.
Dr Rafie: Have you submitted any other document to this court to contradict this document?
Mahmud: No.
