‘Biadap’, ‘lembik’ – either way PM loses, says minister

Rahman Dahlan says had Najib attended the Nothing2Hide public dialogue today, he would have gone in with his hand tied to his back.
Rahman Dahlan, nothing to hide
PETALING JAYA: Remarking on the hail of criticism raining down on Prime Minister Najib Razak today for his failure to attend the much talked about Nothing2Hide dialogue, Rahman Dahlan said that had the prime minister attended, he would have gone in with his hands tied to his back.
He said this in regard to the last minute decision of former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad to attend the public dialogue although he was not invited by the organisers, SukaGuam.
The minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government said in a tweet: “Go hard on Tun (Mahathir), he (Najib) wld be called “biadap” (rude). Go soft, he wld be called “lembik” (sissy)!”
Rahman commented on the further unfairness of the situation from Najib’s perspective saying, “When the police ordered it to be cancelled, PM is called ‘coward’.
“It’s damned if u do, damned if u don’t & damned if u don’t do either!”
He also said that had the dialogue gone on as scheduled, both men would have defended their positions to the hilt and added, “Do you really think either man will concede defeat?”
Rahman, who is also the MP for Kota Belud and Sabah State Barisan Nasional Secretary, remarked how the people were already well aware of where both Najib and Mahathir stood on many issues facing the country and concluded that the dialogue would not have brought about any new developments.
“So debate or not, I am sure Tun M will continue with his criticism. And I am sure PM will continue to explain. We wont’ miss a thing!”
Putting it all down to a typical case of “politics in Malaysia”, he added, “Never a dull moment. So this will not be the first and certainly not the last spark.”
He also said that being an old hand in debates, nothing positive would have come out of the debate since the atmosphere in the hall today was “highly charged”.
“Someone said it was more like “Nothing To Hide” vs “Nothing To Lose”. In highly charged debates, NTLs will inevitably hv unfair advantage!”
