All I need for Raya is sarong

Kick it up a notch this Raya – with a sarong.

sarong
We are almost a week into Ramadan which means Raya is just three weeks away, yay!
Looks like it is time to start shopping for Eid Mubarak.
Now I know, with the recent price hike and GST, going on a shopping spree does not seem like such a good idea. But not to worry. I think I have a great idea.
You see, when shopping for Raya many make the mistake of getting trendy, fashionable and in-style outfits which are unsuitable to be worn anywhere else. I mean come on. Have you seen people wearing silk kebayas or baju kurungs with bedazzling beads to the market, pasar malam, jalan-jalan or to the mamaks? No right…?
So my idea is to get something that is absolutely practical and comfortable but still has a traditional touch.
Yes, this Raya, I am going to get a sarong! One for myself, one for my daughter, one for mom and one for my sister in law.
Eh, don’t laugh okay? I am not joking.
Think about it lah, a sarong goes well with just about anything – blouse, baju Kedah, baju kurung, kebaya and even a t-shirt! When you hit the loo, you can use it as a towel. When you sleep, it can be a blanket. When it is too bright, it can become a curtain. When you go on a picnic, it can be a mat. When you visit government offices and hospitals, it can cover your sexy legs. And every Saturday, it can become your shopping sack – jimat 20 sen!
See, I told you it’s practical!
And that’s not all. As a sign of respect for our government who is trying to instil good “tutup aurat” values in Muslims as well as non-Muslims, I have decided to introduce a dress code for my open house this Raya.
Every single guest of mine will be asked to don loose apparel and cover his/her legs and arms, failing which, they will be forced to put on a sarong. This will definitely be good training before pictures of you posing in a sarong outside a government office go viral in social media. On top of that, I plan to decorate my entire home with sarong – my cushion covers shall be made of sarong, my table cloth – sarong, my curtains – sarong, my floor mat – sarong, my napkins – sarong, toilet paper – sarong. And as a door gift, everyone will also receive a sarong!
Sarongs, sarongs and more sarongs!
This is going to be a wonderful Raya!
