Tian Chua arrested in Seberang Jaya

He was detained after attending a PKR talk in conjunction with the Permatang Pauh by-election.

BUTTERWORTH : PKR vice-president Tian Chua was arrested in Seberang Jaya here last night to facilitate investigation into his involvement in the anti-Goods and Services Tax (GST) rally held in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
The Member of Parliament for Batu was arrested around 11.45 pm.
He personally tweeted that he was detained while driving in Seberang Jaya after attending a PKR talk in Taman Tun Hussein Onn here organised in conjunction with the Permatang Pauh by-election.
“A police team stopped my car before arresting me and they acted rough when I asked why I was being arrested and where they were taking me,” he tweeted.
Tian Chua also added that he was taken to the Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) police headquarters in Bandar Perda, before a police team took him to Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, Seberang Perai Tengah Police chief ACP Rusli Mohd Noor when contacted confirmed the arrest. However, he declined to elaborate.
Earlier, police arrested five other individuals to facilitate in the investigations over their involvement in the anti-Goods and Services Tax (GST) rally in Kuala Lumpur, bringing the total to 36.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Tajudin Md Isa said the five individuals arrested earlier were Seremban Member of Parliament , Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Kuala Krai MP Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli, PKR vice-president and Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli, activist Hishamuddin Rais and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) secretary-general S. Arutchelvan.
