Ludicrous for others to help Wan Azizah handle P. Pauh

Umno’s Syed Ali Alhabshee says PKR should have picked someone else who could actually do the job in Permatang Pauh if they win.

PETALING JAYA: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali popping in to check on Permatang Pauh and Kajang on behalf of Wan Azizah if she is elected Member of Parliament, is the “biggest joke” Umno Cheras Division Chief Syed Ali Alhabshee, said he has heard in a while.
In a blog entry today, Syed Ali said, “Chief Ministers from the Opposition-led states of Penang and Selangor are apparently willing to do a trapeze act, bending over backwards, to look after Permatang Pauh and Kajang in the event Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is not able to carry out her duties.”
Calling this offer by Guan Eng and Azmin Ali “ludicrous”, Syed Ali said elected representatives had a duty to uphold the trust their constituents put in them when they were voted in.
Noting the many complaints among the constituents in Kajang where Wan Azizah is the assemblyperson, Syed Ali added, “And we all know, only too well, that she would not be able to effectively carry out her duties as state lawmaker and MP as it involves moving between Kuala Lumpur and Permatang Pauh regularly.”
He said that achieving a gold medal from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, while commendable, did in no way mean Wan Azizah was a good lawmaker and state assemblyperson.
“PKR could have picked someone else who could actually do the job, if the candidate wins.
“But now it’s apparent that either Wan Azizah is the only capable one in the entire party or the party has waved the green flag for Anwar’s family dynasty to flourish.”
Syed Ali said that whatever the reasons were, those who chose to vote for her would ultimately “bear the brunt of this family’s greed for power” should she win the by-election come May 7.
