MP and former minister, Tan Sri Jamaluddin Jarjis, was laid to rest at 5.38pm today at the National Mosque mausoleum in Kuala Lumpur.
The burial was carried out after the Asar (afternoon) prayer led by Imam Besar Tan Sri Sheikh Ismail Muhammad.
Jamaluddin's son, Ikhwan Hafiz, was seen carrying his father's casket together with the members of the Royal Malay Regiment's 1st Battalion.
Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.
Earlier at his house, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin acknowledged Jamaluddin's contributions to the nation with his various ministerial jobs.
"He is a friend and a leader that has contributed a lot to the country... his sudden departure is a loss for the country."
He also said Jamaluddin was efficient in diplomatic matters as he was once appointed Malaysian ambassador to the US in 2009 and had helped enhance the relationship between the US and Malaysia.
Muhyiddin also sent his condolences to family of principal private secretary of the prime minister Datuk Seri Azlin Alias and other victims for their loss.
Jamaluddin, who was also the PR1MA Malaysia Corporation chairman, Azlin and four others were flying back from Pekan, Pahang, to Subang, Selangor, when their helicopter went down in a rubber smallholding in Semenyih yesterday.
