CONFESSIONS OF AN EX-PM: Umno committed secret crimes

CONFESSIONS OF AN EX-PM: Umno committed secret crimes
The latest video interview by former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad though not a surprise came as a shocking confirmation nonetheless of UMNO's secret crimes in the last three decades since Mahathir came to power in 1981.
He cautioned that if Pakatan Rakyat comes to power, the new government will "dig and if they dig, people may be charged in court and may be found guilty. If BN loses, a lot of people will have to pay a big price”.
This is a veiled but unmistakable confession of illegal activities and wrongdoings by the longest serving UMNO Prime Minister in our country.i
Former Minister confirmed Mahathir’s confession
Following the interview, Mahathir’s henchman, former Information Minister Zainuddin Maidin in his recent blog post confirmed Mahathir's meaning when he said that Mahathir's warning to Najib also served as a self-warning. Zainuddin said that, "Dr. Mahathir who is considered to be an authoritarian will be arrested and detained first and then followed by Najib and the rest on various charges such as abuse of power, 1MDB scandal and other wrongdoings...The warning was meant for the safety of everyone". “Everyone” here presumably refers to those who have committed the secret crimes and who will be potentially exposed and incarcerated. What do we know about these secret crimes?
What are the secret crimes which Mahathir and Zainuddin referred to? What do we know about them?
We know at least four things now:
1) These crimes are now concealed and hence secret, but evidences of the secret crimes exist,
2) Only those in government has access to these evidences,
3) These secret crimes when exposed will result in the imprisonment of those involved, including top UMNO leaders such as Mahathir and Najib,
4) Other people know about these secret crimes, including Zainuddin Maidin.
It is clear here that we are seeing before our eyes, the uncovering of three decades of clandestine illegal activities and wrongdoings by the UMNO-Barisan Nasional government. As I have said in the beginning of this statement, this did not come as a surprise to many Malaysians, but to hear it from the horse’s mouth is revelatory nonetheless.
Specifically, a number of major allegations from the time of Mahathir to Najib surfaced, ranging from the Memali massacre and crackdown on dissidents in the 1987 Ops Lalang, to financial crimes which Mahathir’s biographer Barry Wain described as, “Public funds were stolen in various ways, or simply poured into a big black hole in the name of ventures that bordered on reckless, improbable or criminal”, to Altantuya’s murder and the 1MDB scandal during Najib’s era.
Change in GE14 to make all guilty Ministers pay for their crimes
The Malaysian police should immediately initiate investigation into this high profile confession of government’s crime, failing which Malaysians must unite in the next general election to vote for a new government in Putrajaya who can promise to investigate and make all guilty Ministers pay for the crimes they have committed against the people and the country.
