Wife hit with pestle for not answering phone call

Husband says wife was showing disrespect by not answering his phone call.

KAJANG: A husband came home furious and assaulted his wife, who had just given birth two months ago, for not picking up the phone when he called.

The 26-year-old woman suffered a broken nose and injuries on her body after she was hit with a pestle by her husband at their house in Taman Damai Indah near here on Tuesday.

The man claimed the wife had been disrespectful for not picking up the phone when he called her.

In the 10pm incident, the wife told the husband that she did not hear the phone ring and this angered the husband, The Star reported.

She lodged a report and the husband was picked up by police to facilitate investigations.

The man is now being investigated for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon.
