KUALA LUMPUR - The Dewan Rakyat today rejected a motion to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry to investigate 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
Deputy Speaker Datuk Ismail Mohamed Said said there was no reason to allow the motion as the National Audit Department was in the process of investigating the company.
“The decision is final. The government has already asked the National Audit Department to investigate and submit the results to the Public Accounts Committee.
“There have also been some written questions on the matter which have since been replied to.
“It is now time to debate the King’s speech while several other MPs have also already spoken on 1MDB,” he said.
He said this in rejecting the motion which was raised by Pokok Sena Member of Parliament Datuk Mahfuz Omar.
