Shahidan Kassim says the programme enjoys nationwide support making it a success even though five development projects did not take off.
KUALA LUMPUR: A minister in the prime minister’s department today said that Permata Negara enjoyed nationwide support and was a success despite five development projects that did not take off.
Shahidan Kassim said this in answer to a question posed by MP for Kapar, G Manivannan on the stalled projects that amounted to RM4 million.
“The five centres were not developed because of problems with the construction sites,” the minister was quoted as saying in The Malay Mail Online.
“We conclude that the Permata Negara programme has succeeded and today’s reply answers similar queries of two years on this issue,” he added.
The centres that had approved funding of RM800,000 each are in Sabak Bernam, Gombak Setia, and Bandar Baharu in Kedah apart from Linggi and Lubuk Merbau in Perak.
Permata Negara is a pre-school education programme funded by public funds and headed by the prime minister’s wife, Rosmah Mansor.
