Final farewell to Island Republic's founding premier to be held tomorrow
SINGAPORE: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, arrived in Singapore today to attend the State Funeral for former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew on Sunday.
His Majesty, who was accompanied by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, was greeted upon arrival at 5pm by Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore Datuk Husni Zai Yaacob and officials from the High Commission.
Lee Kuan Yew, who was the founding Prime Minister of Singapore, died on Monday at the age of 91.
His Majesty will be among the foreign leaders and diplomats from around the world to attend the funeral service at the University Cultural Centre at the National University of Singapore from 2pm to 5.15pm on Sunday.
Hundreds of people have been lining up to pay their last respects throughout the lying-in-state at Parliament House. It continues until 8pm tonight.
The State Funeral procession and service will be broadcast live on Singapore’s national television and radio, as well as online at www.rememberingleekuanyew.sg and www.facebook.com/rememberingleekuanyew.
