Family members managed to get the reptile off his arm and beat it to death.
KOTA KINABALU: A construction worker is in critical condition after being bitten by a five-metre long cobra in the toilet of his home at a squatter settlement in Kg Serusop, Tuaran.
The Star reported that the 28-year-old Indonesian screamed for help and family members managed to get the reptile off his arm and beat it to death. They sent him to Tuaran hospital at about 6.15pm on Wednesday.
A local newspaper quoted Tuaran district hospital director Dr G. Mogan as saying that the snake was brought to the hospital for venom identification.
He denied that the reptile had slithered into the hospital as speculated by some after a picture of hospital attendants posing with the snake went viral on WhatsApp and Facebook.
Dr Mogan said they tried their best to treat the victim before sending him to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.
